No more canvassers, leaflets or racists desperately trying to convince you that they aren’t racist.

Lucky. We’ve still got a year and a half to go in the US.

Can we discuss the results? I am not in UK but I work in politics in the commonwealth so we all pay attention haha.

Did Cameron win? Nice!
![]() 05/08/2015 at 08:02 |

Nope but they did twice as well as the BNP which is comforting.

Yeah, the Tories did really well.

Surprised cameron did so well. Although I am right wing, I didn’t really have too high an opinion of him with him “playing” with the integrity of the country by hosting that referendum where the yes side did a terrible job.
LOL @ Milliband especially when he had the stone tablets carve out with the 6 promises of a Labour government. Does he fancy himself moses? What in the serious hell was he thinking.
I lament Farage’s loss, say what you will, but he is by far the most entertaining orator in British politics. He is often hilarious, although sometimes as you mentioned xenophobic.
THOSE ARE MY OPINIONS AND YOU CANT MAKE ME BELIEVE OTHERWISE! ;)

not really , as we will get bombarded with all the crap over the next 18 months , even though we in Australia can’t vote in it.
i mean seriously , we don’t need to hear about it.

Wait what? I honestly don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.

so much for the hung parliament that they claimed was going to happen

Just read up about it. I can't believe they got an outright majority I thought it was supposed to be closer.

Milliband fancied himself moses. LOL. He got a giant stone tablet and carved in it 6 “commandments” of a Labour govt. hahahaha.

It’s comforting to know that “non-racist" racists aren’t a US only thing.

the Australian media will sadly give us wall to wall coverage of the US primaries etc plus the US election , yet most people here don’t care.

You’re disappointed? I voted Lib Dem.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 10:01 |
|
Lib dems never really had a chance to be fair, the coalition ordeal made everyone lose faith in them. They basically took the fall for anything bad they or the tories did in the last few years.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 10:03 |

In my eyes Labour never had a chance either. It was just who the Tories went with.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 10:08 |

Na it didn’t look good from the start. I have a lot of confusion as to why the tories got so much of the vote. I’d have thought more working class people would go with Labour.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 10:21 |

Well, the next five years are gonna suck. The NHS will continue to take a beating, we’ll probably leave the EU, and you just know Cameron’s gonna piss off the SNP to the point that another referendum’s proposed.
Speaking of five years, I’d really like the fixed-term Parliament act repealed post-haste. This election campaign was too long as is, and it’s only going to get worse.

I used to be labour but they have pulled too many stunts for me to trust them in power again and after the whole leadership debacle, Edd has never sat well with me.

I was just entering Uni during the last election so the Lib Dems are dead to me.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 11:16 |
|
Are they? I didn’t vote this time since it was a case of which was the best smelling turd for me but in the grand scheme of things I do believe the Tories are probably the best choice and it is preferable to a hung Parliament.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 11:19 |

I can’t say that I fully trust them or any politician, but I trust them more than the tories.

I am rather fond of him he is very entertaining. Noone else has the gumption to call belgium a “non country”

What about Ed Milliband? he thinks he is moses.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 11:29 |

Entertaining in a way, but terrifying when you think he’s a relatively high profile politician with some influence on our country. Although not much since he didn’t win a seat.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 11:36 |

It’s all a matter of opinion, of course. I’d have preferred Labour because I’m concerned about the TTIP , the possibility of our leaving the EU scares me, I’m not particularly keen on the idea of further NHS privatisation, I don’t particularly like the sound of £10 billion worth of further welfare cuts, and I can’t help but feel that five more years of Conservative government are going to do irreparable damage to the union between England and Scotland, particularly with the ascendency of the SNP.
Make no mistake, I’m not exactly keen on modern Labour, but they’d have been preferable to the Conservatives from my perspective.
I did vote, but it - as usual - didn’t count for anything. My constituency’s had a Conservative representative since it was created, a little over 100 years ago.

I was already at uni, so it didn’t affect me. I voted for them this time because despite their biggest bungle their tax breaks really helped me put and I’m a lib dem at heart.

“finally over”
Oh, you think you had a long election season, do you? That’s cute.

The SNP were going to ask for another referendum anyway. They said they wouldn’t as they thought they’d win, but when they lost they started talking about the next referendum. With 56 out of 59 seats its going to be a long slog.
![]() 05/08/2015 at 20:15 |
|
They needed 326 seats out of 650 to have a majority however Sinn Fein refuse to takes their seats at Westminster as they would have to swear an oath to The Queen so 325 would of done it however they got 330 to Labour’s 232 (ouch).

Sorry. I didn’t see this post when I replied to your other post. Apparently the pollsters are doing an ‘investigation’ because all of the pre-voting poles suggested a very close call (bar one who said they were looking at 37%-31% respectively, but said he was ‘too chicken’ to post it as he thought it wasn’t accurate).
